Tomorrow morning Friday August 25th at 8:05 am MST I will be appearing on CTV Morning Live Calgary to talk about how many fantastic BPA free lunch products there are on the market.
BPAs are used to make plastics, and mimic estrogen. BPA has the nickname “gender bender.” It has been linked to behavioural problems in children as well as aggressive behaviour. If that’s not concerning enough, in 2010 Canada became the first country to declare BPA a toxic substance. It is particularly harmful to pregnant women and smaller children because their little bodies are still developing. It is now banned in baby bottles but can still be found in everyday products like canned goods, water bottles, thermoses, sandwich bags and lunch kits. The really positive thing is that there are many manufacturers out there making really great BPA free products.
Here are a few that I will explain tomorrow on the show:
Eco Lunches - http://www.ecolunchboxes.com/
Kids Conserve - http://kidskonserve.com/
Laptop Lunches - http://www.laptoplunches.com/
Lunch Bots - http://www.lunchbots.com/
Litter Less Lunch - http://www.litterlesslunch.ca/
Kerplunk Water Bottles - http://www.kerplunkbottles.com/
Nosh Pockets Snack Holders - http://noshpockets.ca/
Baby Gourmet - http://www.babygourmet.com/
In Calgary you can find most of these times at places like Community Natural Foods, Amaranth and Planet Organic. What I have found is that it is just as easy to order directly from the manufacturers and there is plenty of selection.
Isn’t it wonderful that we have so many great companies making safer products?
Take care,
Penny
