Lately I have had an aversion to almond milk and I was wondering why. I have been drinking coconut based milk but because it’s so sweet I wanted an alternative for the days when I want something lighter. Yesterday my husband bought a brand of almond milk called Silk True Almond and I decided to try in in my smoothie. Not only was it great tasting and really light, but when I checked out the ingredients on the back of the carton and noticed that Silk True Almond is part of the Non GMO Project which means that it is GMO free. ”The Non-GMO Project is a non-profit organization committed to preserving and building sources of non-GMO products, educating consumers, and providing verified non-GMO choices.” There are many products that carry this seal and you can check them out here http://www.nongmoproject.org/
This is what the Non-GMO Project verified seal looks like:
With all of the dairy alternatives on the market it’s nice to know that you can buy GMO free great tasting almond milk high in calcium at most grocery stores! Look for the seal, and buy with confidence.
Happy Shopping,
Penny

Thanks Penny for relaying that info and sharing the picture of what to look for. I too, have had an aversion to Almond Milk and perhaps that is why. K.
Thanks Penny! I’ll be sure to check labels more carefully!!
Hi Penny, your Mother in Law Phillys suggested I read your blog, and since I’ve never read one before I thought I really should have a look. I have known her and her children (yes your hubby) all my life but have lost touch until recently. Anyways to the point of my reply…I have been reading some information lately that states if I cut out dairy my Rosacea will improve. So I’m looking at options for my coffee – my two cups a day that I take a little dab of milk in (I also put a little in my tea’s). Friends of mine have warned me to stay away from Soy – which I am shocked at, more of them suggested I try Almond or Coconut – and I had no idea you could buy milk from either until I got their post in reply to my question on FB. As I was shopping this afternoon I noticed a large portion of the freeze section (beside the milk) is full of Soy, Almond & Coconut options – my question to you is how does a person choose which Almond or Coconut to buy – which is better for me (since I have been warned to stay away from the Soy) in your opinion. Perhaps I need to try a few and see what I like – but I am always a good listener and you have some very amazing things to say on your Blog – I have enjoyed reading it and will keep reading, I have lots to learn from you! Thank you for your help PennyIf it’s easier to email me my address is ezbales@xplornet.ca! Thanks again. Sincerely, Corrie Fisher (I was Corinne Skuce – your hubby will remember me!)!
